Buildings Officer: Schools, Education Commission

Full time position with some evening and weekend work necessary.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark is looking to appoint a Buildings Officer to support buildings maintenance, capital works and larger developments for its schools’ estate of 167 schools.  Based in Orpington, but with travel throughout South London and Kent, this role is responsible for leading the small team who oversee the land and buildings in which the schools are conducted ensuring they meet all necessary health & safety standards, are maintained fit for purpose and developed optimally and sustainably.

The ideal candidate will be professionally qualified in a related area such as surveying, project management and/or land/estate management.  Good working knowledge both of schools’ buildings and related issues, health and safety and of the Catholic Church are essential.  Experience of dealing effectively with planners and contractors is also essential.  Good communication and IT skills are necessary along with people and budget management experience.
