In May 2023 Young Enterprise re-awarded St James the Great Primary School in Peckham as a Centre of Excellence status for financial education.
Melissa Garrett Programme Manager at Centres of Excellence noted there is a “high quality of financial education which has been implemented across the school at such a testing time. Your coherent programme of financial education is a fantastic foundation for all of your young people and a credit to all of the staff involved.”
One of the initiatives is the Savers Club at the school which is run by parent volunteers and students. It is open every Thursday morning between 8:30 and 9:00. The school currently has over 100 young savers. Parents and children have saved over £13,000 since the scheme was established in 2017.
