Learn More About the Rights Respecting Schools Award and Embedding a Rights-Based Approach in Your School

Tuesday 3rd November 2026. 4-5.30pm
Teams

Facilitated by: Aaron Young

Many schools across the Archdiocese of Southwark are already on their rights-respecting journey, whereas others may not know much about it at all. This session will support schools that are new to UNICEF UK’s Rights Respecting Schools Award, or working towards Bronze and Silver, to identify practical next steps in their Rights Respecting journey.

We will explore how a child rights approach can become part of everyday school life, including through curriculum, relationships, pupil participation and decision-making. The session will also consider how RRSA can complement the Catholic mission of schools and existing frameworks, including the Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI), particularly around dignity, the common good, participation and the flourishing of every child.

The Rights Respecting Schools Award is currently fully funded for all state-funded schools in London through the Mayor of London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) until March 2028, covering registration, training, support and accreditation.
