New Headteachers Induction

As part of our service to new headteachers, we lead an induction programme which provides information and guidance on issues that heads deal with day-to-day. There is a session each month throughout the first half of the school year and it is an expectation that new heads to attend these sessions.

A mentor is appointed for them, someone who has completed training with the education service and has successful experience of leading a school in the diocese, to support them on their journey.

This ensures our heads feel supported but also that high standards in our schools are maintained due to high-quality leadership.

The topics we cover in these sessions are: diocese expectations and protocols, leading a Catholic school, setting priorities, occupation of premises, health and safety, HR, policy and procedures, finance, governance, academisation and compliance.
