The Year 4 class of St Margaret Clitherow Catholic Primary School in Thamesmead had a fantastic and informative trip to Bromley Reform Synagogue.
The children were warmly welcomed and enjoyed learning about key aspects of Judaism, including the Torah, Shabbat services held on Saturdays and the importance of Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. They were fascinated to see the Torah scrolls and to hear Hebrew being read. The visit helped pupils make links to their own experiences of places of worship and to prior learning in History and RE. The session also introduced the Holocaust in a sensitive, age-appropriate way. It was a valuable visit that promoted respect, curiosity, and understanding of different faiths.
