Secondment – 2 Days per Week

 Are you passionate about Religious Education and committed to strengthening the Catholic mission in our primary schools? Do you have the expertise and enthusiasm to support colleagues in delivering high-quality RE that inspires, forms, and deepens understanding for all pupils? 

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Primary Religious Education Adviser on a seconded basis (2 days per week) to support the implementation of the Religious Education Directory (RED) and Lighting the Path across our primary schools. 

About the Role 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced primary practitioner to contribute to diocesan-wide improvement in Religious Education. Working closely with school leaders, RE subject leaders and teaching staff, you will: 

  • Provide expert support and guidance on the implementation of the RED 
  • Support schools to embed Lighting the Path effectively and creatively 
  • Deliver high-quality CPD and lead professional networks 
  • Offer advisory visits, coaching and bespoke school-based support 
  • Develop and share high-quality resources and exemplification 
  • Contribute to diocesan strategy, evaluation and the sharing of best practice 

This role is ideal for an RE leader or experienced teacher who is committed to the mission of Catholic education and ready to step into a wider system-leadership role. 

About You 

We are looking for someone who: 

  • A practising Catholic in full sacramental communion 
  • Is an experienced and knowledgeable primary teacher 
  • Has a strong understanding of RE curriculum, pedagogy and assessment 
  • Demonstrates deep commitment to the vision and mission of Catholic schools 
  • Communicates confidently and works collaboratively with a range of stakeholders 
  • Can manage time, priorities and autonomy across the secondment days 
  • Brings creativity, initiative, and a passion for improving RE provision 

Secondment Information 

The role is offered as a secondment, and applicants must seek the approval of their headteacher and governing body or Catholic Academy Trust before applying. Support and training will be provided, and extensive travel across the Diocese will be required. Mileage will be paid.
