Staff at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School in Medway were delighted to celebrate a special Welcome Mass on Thursday 3rd September with the staff and governors of St Benedict’s Primary School, marking the beginning of this new academic year. It was a particular privilege to have the Mass led by Canon Victor, bringing together the school communities in prayer, reflection and faith.
This occasion was especially significant as it was the very first Welcome Mass celebrated as parish schools, making it a memorable milestone in their shared journey. Coming together at the start of the academic year reminded them that their Catholic faith is at the heart of all that they do. Guided by the Gospel, they are called to live as witnesses to Christ, serving others with love, compassion and hope, and nurturing the God-given potential of every child entrusted to their care.

Headteacher Paula Le Breton said “It was wonderful to be joined by our staff and their children, governors and parishioners, whose presence reflected the strength of the partnership between school, parish and community. Their support and commitment to our shared mission are invaluable as we begin another year of learning, growth and service.
We are also extremely grateful to the Union of Catholic Mothers, who generously provided refreshments following the Mass and created an opportunity for fellowship, conversation and celebration.
It was a wonderful way to begin the academic year: united in faith, strengthened by community and inspired by our shared mission to help our children flourish academically, spiritually and personally”.
