Crowning of Mary at St Ethelbert’s

14th July 2021 Off By Claire Williams

St Ethelbert’s felt that the last year has been like no other and we wanted to acknowledge this when the crowning of Mary took place this year. We wanted to show our devotion to Mary, the Queen of Heaven, Mother of Jesus and above all, our Mother, by having flowers placed by one child from each KS2 class. This was then shared with the other children in their class bubbles back at school, whilst one of our favourite hymns, Ave Maria, was played.

The fact the church had no full pews, no children singing, but instead just a few carefully chosen bunches of flowers placed around the statue, reminded us all that no matter what, Mary is our Mother and looks after us all. We honour and thank you, Mary our Mother.
