St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Awarded Oscar Romero Developer Level

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Eltham, is delighted to share that on Wednesday 25th June, the school was honoured with the Oscar Romero Developer Level Award. This significant recognition celebrates St Mary’s commitment to living out the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, inspired by the life and witness of St Oscar Romero.

Achieving this award highlights the dedication of staff, pupils, and governors to embedding Catholic Social Teaching into every aspect of school life. From strategic decisions and curriculum planning to pupil-led initiatives and community outreach, St Mary’s has worked to ensure that values such as dignity, solidarity, and the common good are not just taught, but lived daily.

The award particularly recognises the school’s commitment to staff wellbeing, inclusive practice through the Acorn Hub, and opportunities for pupils to live out their faith through charitable service, environmental action, and leadership roles such as Faith Friends and School Council.

As St Mary’s looks ahead to the future, this award strengthens the school’s resolve to deepen its engagement with social justice, to share its practice more widely across the community and within the trust, and to inspire every member of the school to become agents of positive change. It marks an important milestone on the journey to build a community rooted in faith, hope, and active love.
