St Thomas the Apostle School Celebrates Another Year of Outstanding GCSE and Vocational Results. The Class of 2026 continued the school’s long tradition of academic excellence, achieving exceptional progress across their five years. An impressive 88% of students achieved grade 4 or above in both English and Mathematics, while 74% secured strong passes at grade 5 and above in both subjects.
Across all qualifications, students delivered consistently high standards, with:
- 91% of all grades awarded at grade 4 or above
- 81% of all grades awarded at grade 5 or above
- Almost half of all grades awarded were grades 7-9
Religious Education, a cornerstone of the school’s curriculum, achieved outstanding results with 69% of students achieving grades 7-9 and 92% securing grades 5-9.
Success in Vocational Qualifications
Students following vocational pathways also achieved excellent results, again outperforming peers nationally with exceptionally high results across Vocational Music and Acting, Cambridge National IT and Sports Studies.
Student Progression
Many students will be progressing into STAC’s sixth form in September. The sixth form has recently celebrated equally impressive results, with students taking three A levels achieving an average grade of A. This year, STAC’s leavers will be moving on to some of the best universities in the country including Cambridge, UCL, Imperial, LSE and Warwick.
Headteacher’s Comment
“We are immensely proud of our students and the results they have achieved this year. These outcomes reflect not only their hard work, resilience and commitment, but also the dedication of our staff and the support of families throughout their educational journey.”
“Today’s grades demonstrate that our students continue to make exceptional progress during their time with us. We are particularly pleased to see such strong performances across both GCSE and vocational qualifications, ensuring that every student is able to fulfil their potential and progress confidently to the next stage of their education.”
“As a Catholic school founded on Gospel values, we celebrate not only these outstanding academic successes but also the character, integrity and service-minded spirit shown by our students. We congratulate every member of the Class of 2026 and wish them every success in the future.”

Aaron achieved a clean sweep of top 8 and 9 grades, with 9s in Maths, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, Economics, Further Maths and Re; and 8s in English Language and Literature. He is exceptionally proud of his results, saying: “I couldn’t have asked for better grades. It took a lot of work, revision, determination and dedication. Teachers gave me significant help – not just in Year 11 but from the start of Year 7.” Aaron joined STAC in Year 7 having attended St Matthew Academy for his primary years, and will now follow in the footsteps of his sister, attending STAC sixth form from September.
Reuben joined STAC from Hatcham Temple Grove in New Cross in Year 7. Throughout his school years, he worked exceptionally hard, and fully bought in to everything the school had to offer. Reuben achieved top grades of 9 in all of his subjects: English Language and Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, History, Further Maths, Statistics, Music and RE. When reflecting on his results, Reuben accredits the grades to “buying in to the school and just working hard. If I was to offer advice to younger students I would tell them that consistency is everything, and a little bit every day across 5 years is what has the biggest impact! I remember being told that on results day you’ll forget all the rainy November day interventions when it is dark and cold outside. I still remember them, but nothing could have prepared me better.”
