Students at St Ursula’s Secondary School, Greenwich celebrate spectacular GCSE results!

Headteacher Mark O’Shaughnessy commented, “We are incredibly proud of our students and everything they have achieved. Today’s results are a wonderful celebration of our students’ dedication, success and support for one another. This year’s results demonstrate a clear improvement in the progress students are making from their individual starting points. Compared with previous years, students have made stronger progress throughout their time at the school, reflecting the impact of high-quality teaching, targeted academic support and the commitment shown by both students and staff. This represents an important step forward for the school and provides a strong foundation on which to build in the years ahead.”

Results were strong across the board, but some individual subject areas shone, with the English Department achieving 89% at grade 4 or higher, the Computer Science Department achieving 83% at grade 4 or higher, Maths achieving 75% at grade 4 or higher, and Religious Education achieving 80% at grade 4 or higher.

A number of departments also gained excellent grades at the highest levels, such as English with 37% achieving grades 7–9, French with 64% achieving grades 7–9, Chemistry and Physics with 50% achieving grades 7–9, and History with 41% achieving grades 7–9.

Deputy Headteacher Kirsty Adams said, “This year group has embraced every opportunity to learn, supported one another and thoroughly deserve these fantastic results. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them and cannot wait to see what they achieve in the future.”

Assistant Headteacher and Year 11 Lead, Chantel-Marie Grant, added, “These achievements are the result of a genuine partnership between our students, staff and families. As our Year 11 students take their next steps, we know they will continue to embody the values that have shaped their time at St Ursula’s, and we wish them every success for the future.”
