Laleham Lea School Students Create Beautiful Easter Garden
31st March 2021Students from Laleham Lea School in Purley have created a stunning Easter Garden of new life and hope as they return to school after lockdown.
Every child has planted their own bulbs and seeds, along with colourful windmills, bunting and other decorations to create an eye-catching display.
The garden also includes a bench dedicated to former school Governor and local Parish Priest Canon Frank O’Sullivan who sadly passed away at Christmas at the age of 99-years-old.
IKEA Croydon kindly donated 120 plant pots and Dobbies Woodcote Green Garden Centre contributed almost 150 pots of miniature daffodils to line the driveway.
Laleham Lea Head teacher Ms Barry said:
“We wanted to create a colourful spectacle of new life to welcome everyone back to school after lockdown. Every student has been involved in planting and creating this beautiful welcome to our school. Thank you to our Staff, Parents and students as well as IKEA Croydon and Dobbies for their very generous donations which have helped to build this beautiful space which students can enjoy on their way in to school each day.”
One Year 5 Student said:
“I love the beautiful Easter Garden; it makes me happy and smile every day on my way into school.”
