The Beginning of the Year Mass for Schools and Colleges in the Archdiocese of Southwark took place on Friday 30th September 2022 in St George’s Cathedral. Over 700 adults and young people attended from many of the schools and colleges across the diocese. The Mass was also attended by representatives from many diocesan agencies.
Archbishop John, gave an inspiring homily on the importance of spending time reading and contemplating the Word of God. During the Mass, headteachers, governors, chaplains and education commission staff were called upon to rededicate themselves to the Church’s mission in education. The hymns were led by the choir form St Mary’s Catholic Primary School (Eltham) and Saint John Bosco College provided readers.
After the Mass many of the school groups enjoyed exploring the Cathedral before meeting in Amigo Hall for refreshments.
